The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in partnership with the World Health Organization’s (WHO), Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network (GOARN), and the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH), shipped this mobile testing laboratory to Liberia in order to increase the number of specimens that could be tested for Ebola. These partners worked together in order to set up the now fully operational laboratory. The facility then performed tests on its first three samples from patients suspected of having Ebola in late August 2014.
