This image was captured in May 2011, on the island nation of Haiti after the region had sustained massive damage due to the January 2010 earthquake. In this view, a young Haitian girl was carrying a metal bucket of water atop her head, while one of her male playmates was playing with the bucket and its contents. Many people in Haiti do not have access to safe water. Because of this, waterborne diseases like cholera, spread quickly throughout the country, and have contributed to more than 7,000 deaths. Note in the background, another community member was hauling a large white bucket of water, back to his dwelling, as well.
