This image depicts a test tube that contained a growth medium of cornmeal (CM) agar, which had been inoculated with a sample of an unknown anaerobic bacterium. Note the colonial growth that ensued, after the inoculated medium was allowed to spend some time incubating, and which had given rise to a fluffy red bacterial colony situated in the bottom of the tube.
