Captured in 1969, this image depicts what was a case of accidental corneal autoinoculation in a 12-year-old boy, following a smallpox vaccination. At this point, the secondary infection was very early in its onset. See PHIL 1986, and 3241, for views of this patient’s eyes later in the infection’s development, and PHIL 16910, for a closer view of this image.
