|Description:||This flyer, produced on behalf of The Measles & Rubella Initiative (M&RI), contains information that is intended to educate the viewer as to the facts about the rubella virus, and the need to vaccinate children against this viral disease. The flyer states that the rubella virus is a major cause of birth defects, and that it costs only $1 to vaccinate a child against measles and rubella. It also makes the point that both measles and rubella move fast, therefore, M&RI has committed to moving faster. M&RI’s main goal is that every child must get the rubella vaccine. See PHIL 16725, for a cropped version of this flyer.|
“The M&RI aims to reach the measles and rubella elimination goals of the Global Vaccine Action Plan (GVAP) by supporting countries to raise coverage of measles, rubella and other vaccines; fund, plan, implement and monitor quality supplementary campaigns; investigate outbreaks and provide technical and financial support for effective outbreak response, propose and participate in solutions to strengthen immunization delivery; and support a global laboratory network for measles and rubella.”
“The Global Vaccine Action Plan (GVAP) ? endorsed by the 194 Member States of the World Health Assembly in May 2012 ? is a framework to prevent millions of deaths by 2020 through more equitable access to existing vaccines for people in all communities.” See the links below for more information regarding both of these initiatives.
