Caption:
Under a magnification of 75X, this photomicrograph revealed histopathology found contained within a molluscum contagiosum papule. Note the thickened, acanthotic epidermal layer with accompanying disintegration of the stratum corneum. Particularly important, was the presence of granular eosinophilic (pinkly staining) inclusions, known as Henderson-Paterson bodies that could be seen within the keratinocytes of what were once the former stratum basale, stratum spinosum and stratum granulosum. For a closer view of these Henderson-Paterson bodies, see PHIL 16689.
