This Petri dish culture plate had contained an unknown growth medium, which had been inoculated with the dermatophytic fungal organism, Microsporum gallinae, also referred to as Trichophyton gallinae, and had given rise to this characteristically cottony textured, slightly folded, white colored colony after a 6-week incubation period.
