Caption:
This image depicts the lower extremities and feet of a young child, held by an adult, who was displaying the child’s feet for the camera. The feet exhibited some abnormal developmental characteristics that included stunted growth of the second toe on each foot, as well as degenerated and eroded nail growth on all toes. These abnormalities were said to have been linked to the mother’s ingestion of medications during her pregnancy, including Dilantin® (phenytoin sodium), and Mysoline® (primidone).
