Caption:
This photomicrograph of an unstained specimen, revealed the presence of an Entamoeba histolytica parasite in its cystic stage, which contained a blunt-tipped chromatoid body. Mature E. histolytica cysts contain four nuclei that characteristically have centrally located karyosomes, and fine, uniformly distributed peripheral chromatin. Cysts usually measure 12-15µm.
