Caption:
Seen from the front, these three test tube slant cultures had contained Sabouraud dextrose agar, which had been inoculated with the dermatophytic fungal organism, Trichophyton tonsurans. After the 10-day point in their incubation, the three cultures gave rise to colonies, which exhibited the characteristic velvety texture, wrinkled, or puckered surface, and white, to off-white coloration. See PHIL 16076, for a view of these tube cultures from the reverse.
