Caption:
These Petri dish culture plates contained Skirrow and Butzler growth medium, which had been inoculated with a culture of Campylobacter jejuni, formerly known as Campylobacter fetus subsp. jejuni. The dish on the left was inoculated with a diluted C. jejuni culture, while the dish at right, was inoculated with a sample taken directly from the original culture source. Note the differing colonial morphology manifested on the left, by clearly separated, small round colonies, while the colonial morphology on the right exhibited a coalescence of the much smaller, pinpoint sized colonies.
