This image from 1979, captured during an epidemiologic investigation, depicts a Centers for Disease Control (CDC) staff member in Triana, Alabama. The investigation was centered in an area that had been contaminated by the organochlorine insecticide, dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT). The investigation was carried out by CDC Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) personnel, who acquired data about the environment, as well as inhabitants of the region. In this particular view, this woman was getting equipment ready that would aid in the performance of urinalyses.
