Under a magnification of 1200x, this photomicrograph revealed some of the ultrastructural morphology exhibited by Coccidioides immitis fungal arthrospores, which were arranged in chains. Mycelial arthrospores are an asexual means for C. immitis to propagate, disarticulating and germinating into a new mycelium.
