This image was produced, by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in 1997, and was entitled, HIV Infection (not AIDS) Reported in 1996, N=13,771. This image depicts a map of the United States, and designates each state with a number, indicating how many HIV infections were reported in 1996. Of interest, was the fact that when reporting a case of HIV was required, the number of cases was dramatically higher, than in those states where reporting was either not required, or required for only pediatric cases.
