Description:This was a beautifully-colored Jenday Conure, also known as a Jandaya Parakeet, Aratinga jandaya, a bird whose natural habitat encompasses the wooded enviroments of northeastern Brazil. With their wonderfully sweet disposition, and playful tendencies, these small parrots make for terrific entertaining pets, and are able to live up to 30 years in captivity.
Although birds can spread germs to people, illness caused by touching or owning birds is rare. To best protect yourself from getting sick, thoroughly wash your hands with running water and soap after contact with birds, or their droppings.
