These two test tubes contained an unidentified growth medium, which had been inoculated with a dermatophytic organism. The tube on the left had given rise to a cottony-textured colony of Microsporum canis organisms, while the culture on the right had cultured a sandy, granular textured colony of Microsporum gypseum fungal organisms.
