Under a magnification of 1115X, this Gram-stained photomicrograph revealed numbers of Gram-positive Corynebacterium matruchotii, formerly Bacterionema matruchotii bacteria. Note the “whip handle” type morphologic appearance of these organisms Normally found as a member of the human oral cavity, these bacteria are composed of a thickened terminal ends attached to a thick, elongated filament.
