Seen from a lateral perspective, this was the rear foot of an unidentified species of mouse that had become swollen and erythematous, due to an invasive fungal infection known as lobomycosis, caused by the yeast-like fungal organism, Lacazia loboi, formerly known as Loboa loboi.
