This photomicrograph revealed some of the ultrastructural details of an Enterobius vermicularis egg, otherwise known as the human pinworm. This nematode, or roundworm, is the causal agent of enterobiasis. The eggs are elongated, flattened on one side, and measure 50-60µm x 20-32µm.
