Description:This microbiologist was seated at his light microscope inside a Centers for Disease Control (CDC) laboratory, making observations about a Petri dish culture plate, which was growing colonies of an unknown organism.
Using different growth media, for a given specimen, produces different colonial growth patterns, depending on the chemical constituents within the media. Antimicrobial agents can also be added to the growth media in order to test the organism’s sensitivity to these additives.
