This historic image was taken in Kabala, the capital, and largest city in the Koinadugu District of the Northern Province in the country of Sierra Leone, during the country’s Smallpox Eradication/Measles Control Program. In this particular view, Dr. Osiu-Kamana, the District Medical Officer, was using a Ped-O-Jet® to administer vaccinations to a young child being held by its mother, while Mr. Tarawali, the local Health Inspector looked on. This was a demonstration, used to train members of the District’s Epidemic Control Team.
