This image depicts three ground squirrel specimens. On the left, a thirteen-lined ground squirrel, Spermophilus tridecemlineatus, in the center, a spotted ground squirrel, Spermophilus spilosoma, and on the right, an antelope ground squirrel, Ammospermophilus leucurus. For additional views of S. spilosoma, see PHIL 14312, and 14308, for the thirteen-lined ground squirrel, S. tridecemlineatus. These and the antelope ground squirrel, A. leucurus, have all been found to be involved in various plague epizootics.
