ID#: 14258
Caption:
This image depicts the normal right eye of the same 2-year-old boy portrayed in PHIL 3246, 3247, 3248, and 14257, whose left eye was inadvertently inoculated with vaccinia virus, after his mother had received a smallpox vaccination 12-days before his ocular vaccinia became apparent. The related PHIL images reveal the pathologic ocular changes over a 2-week period, from onset through resolution. Note the healthy, sharp lid margins, and normal eyelashes when this normal right eye is compared to the infected left eye.
