This 1978 image, depicts Dr. Harold Russell, while operating a fraction collector, used to facilitate the separation of biological materials. Fraction collectors are used, in conjunction with other laboratory equipment, including liquid chromatographs. The samples collected here, would subsequently be purified, and possibly be placed into a spectrometer in order to be subjected to additional biological analyses.
