This historic image from 1974, depicted Dr. Donald A. Henderson, standing in front of a Smallpox Zero sign, which was outside the Bangladesh National Smallpox Eradication Program Center, located in the country's capital city of Dacca. During the 1960s and 70s, Dr. Henderson headed the international effort to eradicate smallpox, and to achieve the Smallpox Zero status for all countries throughout the world. A goal which was successfully reached.
