This 1966 image depicts some of the Smallpox Eradication/Measles Control Program staff members, who were gathered in a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Atlanta, Georgia office. The efforts put forth by this group of epidemiologists had an extremely positive global impact upon these viral infections. Leading group was Dr. Donald A. Henderson, standing at far left, who headed the international effort during the 1960s to eradicate smallpox.
