Under a magnification of 100X, this hematoxylin-eosin-stained (H&E) photomicrograph depicts the cytoarchitectural changes found in a liver tissue specimen extracted from a viral hepatitis patient. In this particular view, note that there are “several layers of hepatic parenchyma, which are still recognizable in the midst of massive necrosis. There is no fatty change, but there is an extensive inflammatory infiltrate”.
