From the “Illustrated Manual for the Recognition and Diagnosis of Certain Animal Diseases”, published in 1982, by the Mexico-United States Commission for the Prevention of Foot and Mouth Disease, this photograph, taken at an equine necropsy, reveals the presence of interlobular pulmonary edema, due to an African horse sickness (AHS) infection. Note that the lung remained distended, even after being extracted from the thoracic cavity.
