This historic aerial view, looking towards the south, depicts the appearance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) geographic presence in 1963. The former Building 1 is seen in the foreground, which was removed in 2011, and replaced by more modernized facilities. At that time the modern day CDC was known as the Communicable Disease Center, from 1946 until 1967.
