This image depicts two slant culture test tubes, each containing Sabouraud dextrose agar (SDA), which had been inoculated with the fungal organism, Trichophyton tonsurans on the left, and T. violaceum on the right. Though both are members of the same genus, Trichophyton, note the dissimilarities in their colonial morphology, especially in size, and coloration.
