A closer view of PHIL 12368, this photograph depicts the colonial morphology displayed by Gram-negative, Brucella abortus bacteria, which was grown on a medium of chocolate agar, for a 24 hour time period, at a temperature of 37°C. Also see PHIL 12397, for a view of B/ abortus colonial growth on the same medium and temperature, but for twice the time period (48hr). Brucella spp., including B. abortus, cause a disease known as brucellosis.
