This photograph depicts the colonial morphology displayed by Gram-negative, Francisella tularensis bacteria, which is the pathogen responsible for causing the disease tularemia. These bacteria were grown on a medium of cysteine heart infusion agar (CHAB), for a 48-hour time period, at a temperature of 37°C. For a closer look at these colonies, see PHIL 12217.
