Description:Caption:
This image depicts the aftermath of the 1985 earthquake that decimated Mexico’s capital, Mexico City. Note that the buildings in the background remained standing, probably due to the structural changes implemented when they were constructed, long after those in the foreground had been built, thereby, protecting them against the shifting ground during the quake.
