|Description:||Magnified 240X, this photomicrograph revealed the presence of a Heterodera sp. nematode egg.|
Heterodera spp. roundworms, are also known as soybean cyst worms. It has been noted that these worms move very little, and therefore, contamination of fields is usually due to the transfer of these organisms in the processes involved in farming, or by natural phenomena such as their attachment to birds, or being carried by the wind.
