This 1972 image revealed the presence of intestinal flukes, Watsonius watsoni, inside the cecum of a non-human primate. Note the teardrop shaped flukes embedded in the mucosal lining of the bowel. See PHIL 2971 and 2972, for gross pathologic appearance of a non-human primate’s bowel, which had been infested with these parasitic flatworms.
