Under a magnification of 385X, this photomicrograph revealed some of the ultrastructural morphology exhibited by a Trichophyton quinckeanum cleistothecium, specifically, the structure’s outer wall, or peridium, which was composed of tightly interwoven hyphae. Contained within this cleistothecium were numerous asci, each of which contained a number of the organism’s reproductive cells, known as ascospores.
