This 1963 photograph depicts a physician, who was visiting a patient, while in the patient’s home, which today is a rare occurrence. Today, in a practical sense, the so-called, house call, is no longer practiced. In this case, the doctor was using a stethoscope to listen to the patient’s beating heart, and in order to detect the presence of any abnormal breath sounds through the patient’s chest wall.
