ID#: 178
Caption:
This 1981 digitally-colorized transmission electron microscopic (TEM) image revealed some of the ultrastructural morphology of a number of intact rotavirus, double-shelled particles. See PHIL 273 for a black and white version of this image. The speckled appearance of each capsid is due to the presence of numerous molecular spikes that emanate from the capsid surface of each virion.
