A residential area of government trailer homes near Raleigh, North Carolina. FSA identification numbers are stenciled on the trailers. Late model cars are next to many of the trailers, and the trailer windows have curtains. Wooden boardwalks are the walkways over the sandy soil. Power and telephone lines are overhead, and many construction cranes are in the distance. Original documentation indicates that this was a “Work Camp” and was photographed by the U.S. U. S. Public Health Service in its portrayal of American living and working conditions.
