This photomicrograph reveals some of the histopathology found in this cardiac tissue sample in a case of cardiac toxoplasmosis. The biopsy specimen was harvested from a patient with a fatal case of AIDS. You can see that contained within a myocyte is what is referred to as a cyst, containing numerous Toxoplasma gondii bradyzoites.
