A foundry furnace at the William Powell Valve Co., Cincinnati, Ohio, circa 1950-1963, that is equipped with a Kirk & Blum Manufacturing Co. ventilation unit. In this photo, the ventilation unit is turned on, and dusts, fumes and smoke from the furnace are entrained into the hood of the ventilation unit and not released into the indoor atmosphere of the foundry building. An African American foundry worker attends to the furnace.
