Caption:
This 1997 image depicted a visually impaired woman, as she was using a thermostat that had been designed with features, which took into account the needs of end users with vision impairment. Design elements including tactile variations, enlarged numerals, a large, easily rotatable control dial, and a click noise cue, as the temperature was being set, helped to negate difficulties that might be encountered by such visually, or mobility impaired individuals.
