This 1997 image showed that by mounting an electrical outlet, no lower than 15-inches above floor level, a wheelchair seated woman could easily insert, or extract an electrical plug without having to maintain an uncomfortable body position. Also, installing the outlet lower than the suggested 15-inches, would prove difficult to access for those with mobility impairments that hinder them from accomplishing the bending motion. The woman seated in the wheelchair depicted here, easily accessed the electrical outlet without difficulty.
