Captured inside the common area of a shopping mall, this image depicted a man standing adjacent to an information kiosk occupied by a helpful associate assisting the man, who happened to be holding a walking cane, with his questions. This was one of a series of images provided by North Carolina State University’s Center for Universal Design. “The Center for Universal Design is a national research, information, and technical assistance center that evaluates, develops, and promotes universal design in housing, public and commercial facilities, and related products.” Such information desks, and other resources, which combine both visual with audible information, are the most useful to a wider range of visitors, some of whom may be disabled.
