In this historic aerial view of the Mississippi River, the Franklin Avenue Bridge is seen at left just outside Minneapolis, Minnesota, captured on June 7, 1933, during a Minnesota Department of Health study of the public bathing, and recreation areas along the river. As one of a series of instructional images used by the Minnesota Board of Health, to train the state's public health workers, the purpose of the photographs, and the accompanying training, was focused on protecting water supplies from bacterial contamination. The descriptive information that accompanied this image also stated that the photograph was labeled as, File no. 22547.
