Caption:
This historic 1932 photograph depicted bottled milk being served in the cafeteria of the state tuberculosis sanatorium, located in Ah-Gwah-Ching, Minnesota. Public health efforts, which included a pasteurization process, insured a safe supply of milk, for both patients, and staff of the sanatorium. This was one of a series of instructional images, used by the Minnesota Board of Health to train the state’s public health workers. The purpose of these images, and the associated training, was focused on protecting food supplies from bacterial contamination.
