This historic 1929 photograph showed milk bottles that had been prepared for delivery, by adding ice to the delivery case. Manufacturers knew that by keeping milk chilled preserved its freshness. This was one of a series of instructional images, used by the Minnesota Board of Health used to train the state’s public health workers. The purpose of these images, and the associated training, was focused on protecting food supplies from bacterial contamination.
