It was taken during a Minnesota Department of Health study of the public bathing areas. The descriptive information accompanying the photograph referred to a governmental publication discussing public health concerns at such public bathing venues. The specific citation was, “Whittaker, H.A., Investigation of Lake Calhoun Public Baths, Minneapolis, May to November, 1917, Journal: Lancet, February 15, 1918”.
