This historic 1940 photograph revealed the interior of a milk pasteurization plant that was part of a Wabasha, Minnesota dairy. The picture was one of a series of instructional images used by the Minnesota Board of Health, in order to train its public health workers. The focus of the images and the training dealt with protecting milk supplies from bacterial contamination due to incorrect sanitary procedures.
