This historic image depicted what was a letter from the Queen of Belgium, on the occasion of the observance of Child Health Day here in the United States. The original image was scanned from a glass lantern slide donated by the Minnesota Department of Health, and is one of a historical collection of documents and photographs devoted to observances of Child Health Day in the United States. In her message, the Queen made reference to the humanitarian effort made during the War, by the U.S., to assist the children of Europe, and of Belgium in particular. The future President, Herbert Hoover, managed the wartime, and post-war program. He was president of the American Child Health Association ACHA at the time of it merger with CHO. The ACHA, which started the observance of Child Health Day, was founded in 1923, when the Child Health Organization and the American Child Hygiene Association merged.
